RFID tags & cards (please refer ‘Technologies’) Link it
The Radio frequency Identification is the technology applied for the automatic identification like barcode, smart card, magnetic cards, etc. Rfid requires no direct sight for identification. Automatic identification is possible with the help of contact or contactless identification devices like tags, key fobs, ibutton (touch button), smart cards, proximity cards, Rfid inlays, barcode labels, etc.
RFID applications
Inventory
Rfid has a unique identification number, which cannot duplicate. Just like barcode scanner, RFid scanner connected or not connected with PC can identify the labels from a distance of 10 to 15 cm with an anti collision features of 50 tags at a time.
Library Management
EAS or Rfid labels can be used for anti counterfeit and theft control. Rfid adhesive labels can be pasted inside book cover and any unauthorized exit of the books through the gate can be noticed. It can also use for effective inventory management with a handheld RFid reader.
Asset tracking
Rfid tags are available in different shapes and frequencies. For asset tracking usually hard tags and metal mounted tags are used.
Access control
Proximity cards and Mifare smart cards usually uses for access control, attendance marking applications
Personal tracking
Rfid wristbands and key fobs are uses for personal and file tracking. Patients, children and pets can be tagged with RFid wristbands, glass tags, etc to identification and tracking
Vehicle tracking:
Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, so far confined to warehouse tracking and other small-area applications, is now put in conjunction with VSATs to track vehicles
