The conventional order processing system involves the sales executive who collects orders from dealers manually and updates these orders either through phone or courier to the head office. This process is slow and time consuming. It also involves multiple data entries and hence there are chances of data error.
If there is more number of products and sales executives, which requires order processing from different departments, the whole process become cumbersome and chaotic. In most cases, a centralized view of the orders will be absent, making it difficult for production planning and managerial analysis.
In the case of retailers, who are ordering directly to the company, the scenario is not different. Either he has to send an order by courier or fax, or make a call at office times, which may not be always convenient for the retailer.
Another mode of sales ordering is through Internet, which comprises of sending orders through emails, using a web based application, etc. This mode demands a PC, internet connectivity and some technical knowledge, which may not be always available in most of the retail shops. |

How it works |

In simple words, the dealer’s mobile is loaded with client software, similar to any other software which is load into your laptops or PCs. This software can communicate with a server located centrally. The mobile, then can communicate with the server to download and upload required information as and when necessary. The server is also loaded with software, to accept the communication from mobile phones used by dealers. This software also communicates with various departments, for the smooth and speedy processing of the sales orders. The communication between the server and the mobile phones can be either through GPRS or through Short messages (SMS). |

Basics: |

This application follows the architecture of client/server model. The Server will be located in the company head-office. The clients are dealers. The orders placed by the clients will be sending to the server through SMS (Short Messaging Services) which is the cheapest means of communication through a mobile phone. An intermediate device will provide the SMS data to the server and the server will process and store the data in the database which can be viewed by the management for making various business decisions. For example they can view area-wise sales report, revenue report, customer list etc.. |
